Marblehead XC Splits with Swampscott
In their last meet before the NEC Open, Marblehead High School's varsity cross country teams split their races against Swampscott.

The first place finisher for Marblehead's girls' team was Mary Kauffman (sr) with a 17:11; coming in third was Carly Robb (sr) with 18:05; finishing fourth was Janaya Randall (so) with 18:15; fifth was Lillie Johnston with 18:25; and seventh was Lily Roberts with 18:54.
Brian Heenan, coach of the boys' team, warned his troops before the race that the Swampscott kids were hungry.

"I told them, 'If we didn't come out strong Swampscott was going to pounce,'" Heenan said after the race. "That is what happened."
Big Blue runner Peter Hale won the boys' race, setting a Swampscott record with a finish of 13:54. James Wigglesworth was the first Marblehead runner to cross the finish line.
