Police Find Driver in a Snowbank, OUI Charges Follow

Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Friday, Jan. 31

At 8:48 a.m., a school official called to report that a bus driver said a man with a beard driving a BMW passed the bus while the stop sign was out that morning.

At 9:44 a.m., a man called to say his neighbor was “doing something suspicious with her car.” She was reportedly driving it back and forth in her driveway and didn’t respond to the caller when he knocked on the window. The vehicle was gone on officer’s arrival.

At 2:14 p.m., a woman asked if there was a law regarding putting snow on another person’s property. She was advised it was a civil issue and that an officer could stand by while she spoke with her neighbor.

At 2:49 p.m., a man reported his wallet had been stolen from his vehicle overnight.

At 2:50 p.m., a person reported finding a package in a church parking lot; it had not been opened. It was returned to the addressee.

Saturday, Feb. 1

At 3:35 p.m., a caller reported a vehicle in a snowbank with a driver who was possibly impaired. Police arrived and arrest Stephen Ware, 60, on charges of OUI liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

At 2:14 a.m., two callers complained about snow removal noise.
