Police Investigating Hit-and-Run Crash

Thursday, Jan. 1
At 10:51 a.m., police received a call about a backyard ice rink melting and the water was going into the street. The caller said he is standing in the roadway to prevent people from driving fast there. Police notified the homeowner as well as the DPW to sand the area.

At 11:10 a.m., police received a call about a bench stolen from a Washington Street shop. The bench was found and returned to the business.
At 9:20 p.m., a Shetland Road resident reported hearing gunshots. Police checked the area, but didn’t find any problem.

At 9:40 p.m., a Broughton Road resident reported a car break-in. A phone was stolen from the car.
At 10:10 p.m., police received a call about a car break-in on Ida Road. Items were reportedly taken from the vehicle.
At 11:52 p.m., police received multiple calls about an erratic driver. The second caller said there was a crash and the traffic light at Maple and Lafayette was knocked over. Police responded and found the light pole on the ground and not working. Police said it appeared that the driver also hit the Welcome to Marblehead sign on the grass and then fled. Police found the vehicle on Tully Road. They identified who owns the car and are investigating.
