Boy Drowns in Walden Pond
Rescuers pulled a boy from Walden Pond in Saugus Sunday; resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Saugus, MA — A 13-year-old boy drowned in Walden Pond in Saugus Sunday afternoon.
At about 1:56 p.m., Saugus police received a call for a swimmer in distress. Firefighters on boats found the boy's submerged body at about 2:33 p.m., according to Saugus Police Chief Domenic DiMella.

Firefighters immediately started CPR and the boy was transported to Union Hospital in Lynn, where he was pronounced dead, the Essex County District Attorney's Office announced at about 5 p.m.
