Preparing For A Disaster In Marblehead

The town will host a public discussion on "Disaster Mitigation" amid climate change.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — As climate change threatens increased major weather events and rising waters for coastal communities, Marblehead is looking to revise its "Hazard Mitigation Plan" to best reduce the risk of catastrophic damage.

The town is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan that serves as a strategy for reducing current and future risks of these natural hazards and the effects of climate change.

Residents, as well as regional and local stakeholders, are invited to learn about the plan and share their ideas for reducing future disasters, including floods, drought, high winds and winter storms, with the town during a public meeting on Nov. 21. The virtual meeting will take place from 4 to 5 p.m.
