Reckless Mercedes Driver, Hydrant Violator Balks at Fine, IRS Scam: Marblehead Police Log

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The following are excerpts from the Marblehead police log. Suspects are innocent unless convicted.

Fri., Sept. 23

• 11:15 a.m. Credit card fraud reported on Clifton Avenue.
• 12:57 p.m. A woman who parked in front of a hydrant said she "didn't feel she should have to pay" a $100 violation.
• 3:21 p.m. A Sewall Street resident said someone stole a lawn ornament.

Sat., Sept. 24

• 8:51 a.m. Witnesses said someone driving a Mercedes passed three cars and blew a red light on Atlantic Avenue.
• 10:52 a.m. IRS scam call on West Shore Drive.

Sun., Sept. 25

• 2:23 a.m. James Gassler, 63, of Marblehead, was charged with DUI and negligent driving after a crash on Humphrey Street.
