Roxbury Man Charged With Stealing Donation Jars From Local Businesses

Donation jars from veterinarian clinic and bank were stolen on Friday.

A Roxbury man was arrested on Friday afternoon in Marblehead and charged with stealing donation jars from two local businesses.

William F. Johnston, 47, of 68 Hampden St. in Roxbury was charged with two counts of larceny from a building.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday, police got a call from a veterinarian clinic on Ocean Avenue stating that a man had stolen a donation jar from the business and left the clinic on foot.

Shortly afterward, police got a report of someone matching the suspect’s description near a bank on Humphrey Street.

Police located Johnston, arrested him and brought him into the station.

The manager of the bank reported that they believed Johnston also stole a donation can from the bank.

Johnston was transported to the county jail in Middleton after being booked.
