Run for Rescue October 18th on Marblehead Neck

Run or Walk 5K for local animal rescue groups including the Marblehead Animal Shelter and PAWS New England. Registration starts at 10:30 am

Runners, walkers and leashed dogs are invited to take a spin around Marblehead Neck. Others are encouraged to come down to cheer the the walkers on and show their support for the Marblehead Animal Shelter.

The 2014 Goodness Gracious Run for Rescue will take place on Saturday, Oct. 18 on scenic Marblehead Neck. Four hundred participants are expected in this year’s family fun event. The race-walk starts at noon, and there will be plenty of fun for spectators, too, according to organizers. Some of the rescue groups will also be bringing adoptable dogs.

Every Little Breeze Catering will be serving up delicious food. Marblehead’s own Jacob the Balloon Kid will be there to show his support for the Marblehead Animal Shelter and twisting up his balloon creations. Laura from Healing with Spirit will be offering short Pet Reiki sessions before the race and tarot-card readings for spectators after the race begins.

Activities will begin with registration at 10:30 a.m. and continue until after the awards around 1:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged, especially for the pups.

The Run for Rescue 5K starts at noon on Saturday, Oct. 18 from Chandler Hovey Park in Marblehead.
