Schneider Earns Starter Status in Vancouver

Marblehead native Cory Schneider will take over as the starting goaltender for the Vancouver Canucks, according to the Vancouver Sun.

Marblehead native Cory Schneider, who had some big games in net against the Boston Bruins in last year's Stanley Cup Finals, has been officially handed the starting position as net-minder in Vancouver, according to a story in the Vancouver Sun.

Schneider shone in the Cancucks' game against the L.A. Kings Wednesday night, effectively saving the team's season by making 43 saves and turning away some last-minute scoring chances.

According to the Vancouver Sun report, team officials will look to trade former starter Roberto Luongo and his 12-year, $64-million contract sometime this summer.
