Selectmen Approve Increases for Old Town House Accessibility Project

The cost of an ongoing project at Marblehead's Old Town House was raised slightly with permission from the Board of Selectmen.

Two contracts between the town and the contractors working to make Marblehead's Old Town House universally accessible were altered Wednesday night to make room for additional costs not anticipated during the planning process.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved adding the following costs to various contracts at their meeting at Abbot Hall.

  • Demolition of a wall, $400
  • Second-floor fuse box cabling, $500
  • Plumbing Vent Stack, $3,400
  • Ramp changed slope, $1,400
  • Second-floor lighting, up to $1,575

Board members will meet again Thursday afternoon to discuss the project. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at Abbot Hall.
