Plan Set for Filling School Committee Vacancy

The Marblehead Board of Selectmen approved a timeline Wednesday night aimed at filling a vacancy on the School Committee.

In anticipation of School Committee member Eurim Chun's departure at the end of the month, the Marblehead Board of Selectmen have approved a plan for finding her replacement.

Here is the proposed application scheduled, which was approved during the board's meeting at Abbot Hall Wednesday night.

Beginning today, applications will be accepted.

  • June 30: Vacancy on School Committee begins.
  • July 10: The School Committee and Board of Selectmen will hold a joint meeting to discuss the interview process.
  • July 17: The applicant's letters of interest and reusme are due by 5 p.m.
  • July 24: The School Committee and Board of Selectmen will hold a joing meeting to interview candidates and select a new committee member.

Should the person appointed by both boards wish to continue in the position beyond the May 2014 election, he or she will have to run for a position on the School Committee.
