Several Phone Scams and the Odor of Burning Rubber

Tuesday, Jan. 6
At 9:01 a.m., a caller reported receiving a “grandparent scam” phone call in which the caller claimed to be her gradson.
At 4:33 p.m., a driver came in to report he had been forced to the side of the road by a Poland Springs truck. He scraped against another vehicle.

Wednesday, Jan. 7
At 7:05 a.m., a caller reported receiving a scam phone call.

At 9:55 a.m., a caller reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS.
At 1:58 p.m., an odor of burning rubber was reported to be coming form a Washington Street business. Police confirmed the odor and contacted the business owner who said he had passed an inspection with the fire department last week and the call to police was a false report.
At 2:30 p.m., an officer patrolling at Crocker Park found drug paraphernalia and turned it over to be destroyed.
At 2:50 p.m., a UPS truck driver reported two suspicious men in a Budget truck pulled into the driveway where he had just delivered a package. Police investigated and found all was in order.
At 4:26 p.m., a teacher reported someone had taken an iPhone charger, cable and adapter over the break.
At 5:50 p.m., a woman reported her credit card had been fraudulently used at CVS.
