Shriners Hospital for Children Receives Donation of Toys & Books

Marblehead Residents Sheila Duncan, founder of The Kennek Foundation and Dr. Gary Freedman, Marblehead Opticians made donation possible

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, Shriners Hospital for Children – Boston (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) received a very special donation for some of the children receiving treatment at the hospital. These children and their families were the recipients of large, huggable Trouble the Dog (www.troublethedog.net) plush toys and beautifully illustrated children’s books for this holiday season, thanks to a generous donation by Dr. Gary Freedman, owner of Marblehead Opticians.

Sheila Duncan, founder of The Kennek Foundation and co-creator of Trouble the Dog, delivered the toys and books with Mr. Freedman. They were greeted and warmy welcomed by Elizabeth Fisher, Public Relations Manager for Shriners Hospital for Children – Boston.

The donation of plush toys and children’s books will be enjoyed by children and families that come to Shriners Hospitals for needed medical treatment for Orthopaedics, Cleft Lip and Palate, and Burn Care.
