Small Businesses Receive Guidance from Local Support Group

The Marblehead Business Referral Network (MBRN) held an educational seminar for Marblehead businesses at Palmers on Thursday morning. Fawn Choate who owns a bookkeeping company named The Office on The Go, and Brett Lazar who owns a business consulting firm named Business Growth Strategies led the seminar.

Lazar and Choate spoke about how outsourcing these two business functions are more efficient and less expensive than hiring full time office staff. It is more cost effective because businesses are paying for exactly what they need. Furthermore, some business only need support one day a week or a few hours a month. This type of outsourcing model is ideal for those situations.

Alternatively, owners have someone overlooking the process to make sure current office staff are doing things correctly.

“Often times small businesses think that they don’t need great accounting services and business consulting but it is exactly the opposite”, Lazar states. “ He adds, “One of the primary reasons that businesses fail is cash flow and capital. “ Small businesses need to focus growing and running their business not doing invoices and receivables” Choate states.
