Special Town Election Approves Override for Abbot Hall Repairs

2. Overrides Pass: On Tuesday, town voters passed both Proposition 2 1/2 overrides on the special town election ballot. The money was approved for the repairs on the Abbot Hall Clock Tower (3,888 votes to 1,617) and 151 Green Street (3,186 to 2,235).

3. New Super: At Thursday morning's School Committee meeting, members are scheduled to discuss negotiations with the new super, Maryann Perry. There may be a final vote on Perry's contract. 7 Widger Road, 8 a.m.

5. Downtown Stores Stay Open Late: Summer hours are in effect at 28 downtown businesses. Thursdays and Fridays this summer they'll stay open late, so enjoy an evening stroll and some shopping.
