Student Raises Money for Training Program in Tanzania
Marblehead Village School students pitch in to help sponsor Tanzanian students a world away.
Noa Minelli, a sixth grader at the , recently set up a Tanzanian Craft Market for her charity, Mitzvah Project.
Minelli's goal is to raise money for the Hai Youth Tailoring Training Center in Tanzania. Her class, through the help of the Marblehead Village School, has set up a market, much like the Tanzanians, to sell items they have created, such as t-shirts, bracelets, rings, and notepads. $625 will provide a sewing machine, training and start-up capital to allow a young person to complete a vocational training program in tailoring and start a business.
After just two days, with the help of the students and the Marblehead community, Noa raised $530.
Here are some photo of one of the vocational schools in Tanzania. The program is organized through Pact. Pact’s work under the Global Fund’s Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program has touched the lives of nearly 260,000 children. For more information, visit www.pactworld.org
