Swampscott Students Cause Minor Disruption at MHS

SHS seniors don't honor their side of agreement, according to Marblehead High.

It was the first day of school on Wednesday, and there was a minor disturbance at the Marblehead High School parking lot.

Apparently, in years past, there has been an issue with seniors from Marblehead High School and Swampscott High School driving through the other school’s parking lot on the first day of school while freshmen are being dropped off.

This year, Marblehead school officials told MHS seniors not to drive through the Swampscott High parking lot on their first day, according to police.

However, the deal didn’t seem to apply both ways.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the police got a call from Marblehead High School stating that Swampscott seniors were driving through their parking lot while the Marblehead freshmen were being dropped off.

High school officials were reportedly upset that the Swampscott students were not asked to refrain from the opening day drive through.

Around 9:30 a.m., police received a second call about kids from neighboring communities driving around the circle at Marblehead High and shouting obscenities.

Police stopped one of the vehicles on Humphrey Street.
