MARBLEHEAD, MA — The following are from excerpts of the Marblehead Police log.

Saturday, March 31

9:25 a.m. - Chief reports a headstone was knocked over in the cemetery. There was an uprooted tree next to the headstone which appears to be why the stone was knocked over.

1:23 p.m. - Someone said cars aren't stopping for the stop sign at Essex and Pleasant. He also said the cars coming around the Old Town House up on to Mugford are speeding in the school zone.

8:30 p.m. - Someone followed a vehicle inbound from Vinnin Square and saw it "swerve past the yellow and then go to the other side and almost hit the curb." Police caught up with the vehicle and the woman said she is OK, and that she may have been going slow but that was it.

Sunday, April 1

12:56 a.m. - A large fight involving an estimated eight people was reported on Lee Street. A white SUV was blocking the street and appeared to be involved.

8:12 a.m. - Someone came into the officer and was concerned about a tree that fell and is sticking out on the sidewalk,, impeding the view of traffic leaving Cressy on to Elm. Police told man the owner was notified. Man argued it is town's responsibility. Police told man it's not a town tree. After some internal conversation - and a week after a letter was sent to the tree owner regarding the tree - it was deemed a hazard and following multiple complaints was removed. A family member told police the man was away for the month and his work crew would handle the tree the next day, but Marblehead Tree cut it back already.

8:28 p.m. - A person reported a minivan pulled over to the side of Ocean Ave. without any lights on. It was reported as a hazard and police were encouraged to check it out.

Monday, April 2

6:45 a.m. - Caller on Gregory Street said a motorist "gently backed into a pole."
