Threatening Calls and Seven Years of Harassment

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log:
Thursday, June 13:
- At 10:38 a.m., police received a report of a student disturbance on a school van on Widger Road. The high school psychologist and others met with the student.
- At 11:27 a.m., a Roundy Road resident reported receiving threatening calls on her cell phone. The caller threatened to kill her brother. The woman contacted her brother and found out he was fine. She also called back the number that the call came in from and got a violent response from the person — the original caller.
- At 1:06 p.m., a Frost Lane resident said she has been harassed by a neighbor for seven years. She said she was coming to the police station to talk to an officer about the problem.
- At 1:45 p.m., the Salem Harbormaster reported that a man went in to take a nap and came out to find his dinghy had floated away. The small craft would likely drift to Hawthorne Cove, he said. The boat has a 3 horsepower motor on it. The Marblehead harbormaster was notified.
- At 3:41 p.m., a Green Street woman returned home to find her home had been broken into. The air conditioner was out of the window and the television and computer were missing.
- At 4:28 p.m., police charged Ray DePaula, 39, of 23 Puritan Road, Marblehead with aggravated rape, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and distributing material of a child in a sexual act.

- At 1:20 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Lafayette Street.
- At 1:49 a.m., police helped a person who got lost trying to get to Salem.
- At 3:40 a.m., a Jersey Street man called police to report that he had some kind of oxygen-eating gas in his house and didn't know where it was from.
- At 4:26 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Widger Road.
- At 6:31 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Widger Road.
