Park and Rec Endorses Effort for Synthetic Turf: At their meeting at the Marblehead Community Center Tuesday night, members of the Recreation and Parks Commission unanimously endorsed the Marblehead All-Sports Foundation's effort to install a synthetic turf field at Marblehead High School before the 2013 fall sports season.

Marblehead Honors Those Lost on September 11th: The Marblehead Fire and Police Departments joined departments across the country in conducting a remembrance ceremony Tuesday morning at Memorial Park to commemorate the eleven-year anniversary of September 11th.

Now Open: Yannalfo's Ristorante: Yannalfo's Ristorante opened in the former home of Pellino's Ristorante, located at 261 Washington St., on Tuesday. The owner, Brett Yannalfo, 43, of Andover, said he has always dreamed of opening a restaurant of his own.

Fall Victim Upgraded to Fair Condition: The local librarian who sustained a severe head injury when he fell from a Swampscott porch last week has been upgraded to fair condition at Mass General Hospital in Boston, a spokeswoman said Monday night.

Local Tree Collapse Victim Identified: Police have identified the Marblehead man who was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on his SUV while it was traveling toward Lynn on Humphrey Street.
