Tracy Maag of Veterans Middle School Honored with Teacher Award

Tracy Maag, permanent substitute at Veterans Memorial Middle School in Marblehead, was recently honored with the MVHoward Teacher Recognition award at a gathering in the school gym. Selected from nominations made by members of the community, Ms. Maag was cited for fourteen years of service to staff and students throughout the school in a key position that often goes unrecognized. Her nominators detailed the many ways she consistently goes above and beyond to assist everyone.

The 2023 Salem honoree is Mercy Baez, fifth grade teacher at Bentley Academy Innovation School. She was recognized for her excellent teaching, strong communication with families, and exceptional contributions to school culture.

Each award comes with a certificate and $500. All other nominees are also congratulated that they were honored with a nomination. The award is a fund of the Essex County Community Foundation.
