UPDATE: Ocean Avenue Cleanup Continues
A cleanup crew worked to remove mineral oil spilled from a transformer after a traffic accident.

UPDATE at 10:02 a.m. Friday: Marblehead Police said Clean Harbors is back and cleaning up mineral oil at Ocean Avenue and Manley Street. The road is closed to traffic, but it is open to pedestrians. However, police suggest pedestrians, especially those who dogs, avoid the area if possible.
UPDATE at 3:58 p.m. Thursday: Marblehead Police reports that Ocean Avenue is fully open again.

Marblehead Police announced on its Facebook page that a cleanup crew is at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Follett Street after a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday night.
Police said the crew will be working on Thursday and Friday to clean up mineral oil that spilled from the transformer on the light pole that was damaged in the accident.

“We have closed Ocean Ave at Manley and ask that pedestrians -- especially people walking dogs, do not walk through the area for everyone’s well being and safety. Please use Manley Road as your alternate route while the safety of the area is restored,” said police.
