Two-Year-Old Found Wandering Alone in the Rain

Plus, a second OUI offense and a car horn that won't stop honking.

At 8:54 a.m., police were notified of a boat wrapped up on a mooring. The vessel wasn’t taking on water and the harbormaster and another boat were able to assist.

At 9:31 a.m., a caller reported a child wearing Spiderman pajamas and appeared to be about two years old was walking alone in the rain on Beacon Street. The child refused to speak with the caller and began walking back up the street and the was with his mother when police arrived. The mother was in the bathroom and father was at the store when the child wandered out of the house when the father left.

At 10:30 a.m., a caller said his kids left the sunroof and windows open on his car while it was raining. Now, the car horn sounds when it is off. He was instructed to bring the car to the fire station so they could show him how to disconnect the battery until he could take it to the shop Monday.

At 12:10 p.m., a motor vehicle was stopped for a “harsh and objectionable noise” (ie. spinning tires).

At 12:59 p.m., police received several calls about a motor vehicle crash at Pleasant and Smith streets with airbag deployment and unknown injuries. As a result, Taylor Hill Roberts, 24, of Beverly, was arrested and charged with OUI liquor (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. At one point while Roberts was in custody, the matron noticed a white substance on his lips that would not come off. It was found to be toilet paper and was eventually removed from his mouth. Roberts’ father bailed him out.

At 2:33 p.m., a car drove into a house. The driver believed she hit the gas instead of the brake. There were no injuries.
