Behind a balanced offensive attack and five innings of no-hit pitching from Kaylyn Countie, the U12 Marblehead Magicians remained unbeaten with a 19-4 win over the Lynnfield Blue Wednesday night. Countie picked up 11 strikeouts, with three coming in her final inning of work.
"She got the game ball," Coach George Shapiro said. "She deserved it."
Countie also helped her cause from the plate, clubbing two singles, scoring twice, and driving in a run.

Each of the team's starters reached base at least once. Alexa Brown (double, three runs), Emily Messinger (double, two runs, RBI), and Taylor Bouchard (double, two runs, RBI) led the way.
Olivia Hazlett chipped in a single and a run, and Lindsey Rae added an RBI-single and two runs.

The victory keeps Marblehead in third place in the 39-team Middle Essex League. The Magicians take the field at home Wednesday against Swampscott, then face top-ranked Malden Thursday. It's an important stretch, but Shapiro said the team isn't glancing past its matchup with rival Swampscott.
"The girls are looking forward to the game on Wednesday," he said.
