U12 Magicians Ground Falcons
The local girls play their final game of the summer season on Monday night against the North Andover Scarlet Knights.
It was another smooth win for the 12-1-1 U12 Marblehead Magicians softball team as they took care of the Danvers Falcons 21-1, in just five innings, on Thursday night at Veterans Middle School.
Kaylyn Countie pitched a complete game for the Magicians, only allowing three hits, three walks and one run. She controlled the pace of the game from the beginning, striking out 12 of the 20 girls she faced, including 1-2-3 three-strikeout showings in the first and third innings.
Danvers' only run came in the fourth inning, when Christina Van Knowe walked, stole second, was advanced to third by Lizzie Prentiss' single, and driven home on a single from Katie O'Donnell. The Falcons were a scoring threat, with runners on third in both the second and fifth innings, but they were unable to push their girls across home plate.

The Magicians, on the other hand, started scoring runs early and continued to do so for the entire game. They plated runs in all five innings, including six in the first, seven in the fourth, and six more in the fifth.
Lindsey Rae started the offensive outburst off with a single in the top of the first. She was followed by Julia Stockwell, who also singled. Emily Messinger came to the plate next, and proceeded to crush a ball deep into centerfield, which she turned into a two-RBI-triple.

Messinger was quickly brought home by an Alexa Brown infield-hit. Taylor Bouchard and Countie also scored in the first, being knocked in by Toni Vinciarelli and Caroline Tucker respectively.
Runs from Stockwell, in the second inning, and Tucker and Sarah Cuffe, in the third, brought the Magicians lead to 8-0 before Danvers got on the board in the top of the fourth.
Marblehead continued the scoring trend, as Brown brought Messinger home with a triple into deep centerfield and Bouchard knocked in Brown with a sacrifice ground-out. Later in the inning, with Countie and Vinciarelli on base, Cuffe drove a pitch through the middle of the infield for a two-RBI-single. Cuffe would walk home, as Alexa Ehrenberg drew a walk, Alexa Shapiro reached first on a fielder's choice, and Kaitlyn Bernato walked. With the bases loaded, Rae connected for a two-RBI single that brought the score to 15-1 and ended the inning.
After another quick top of the inning, which featured two more strikeouts from Countie, the Magicians went right back to scoring. Stockwell took first after being hit by a pitch, and Messinger walked, putting runners on first and second.
Brown brought home Stockwell with an RBI-single, which was followed by a Bouchard walk to load the bases for Countie. Countie proceeded to knock the ball deep into the Danvers outfield, clearing the bases with a three-RBI double.
Countie and Vinciarelli would both also score in the inning, on a sacrifice-RBI from Cuffe and an RBI-single from Ehrenberg, which proved to be the last play of the game, as the score reached 21-1.
The Magicians play their last game of the summer season on Monday night against the North Andover Scarlet Knights, where they will try to remain in the top-four of the Middle-Essex League, thus being one of the league champs as there are no playoffs to decide an overall champion.
