U12 Magicians Play Closest Game Yet
In a make-up match against Swampscott, the Magicians held on for a 10-8 win on Monday at Veterans Middle School.
It wasn't the cleanest game of softball ever played, as both teams drew more than 10 walks, but the U12 Marblehead Magicians came out on top with a 10-8 win over the girls from Swampscott on Monday at Veterans Middle School.
The win extends their unbeaten streak to seven games, with a record of 6-0-1.
It seemed as if Marblehead was going to have an easy time against Swampscott, as they saw their first six batters reach home in the bottom of the first; six runs is the league limit for runs scored by a single team in an inning.

Sydney Ciulla had the highlight of the inning, as she recorded a two-RBI single that brought the score to 6-2.
Swampscott never gave up though, scoring one run in the second and three more in the third.

Marblehead had Sara Bornstein score in the second and brought home two more runs in the third to make the score 9-6.
The runs in the third were scored by Lindsey Rae and Julia Stockwell, who both singled before being brought home on sacrifices by Emily Messinger and Alexa Brown respectively.
Swampscott threatened to take the game back again in the fourth, scoring two more runs and holding off the Marblehead offense in the bottom of the inning, bringing the game to within a run at 9-8.
Marblehead was able to gain back a run in the fifth though, as Alexa Ehrenberg walked and was brought home with an infield sacrifice from Meghan Tierney.
Alexa Shapiro, pitching in her first game in the Middle Essex League, held Swampscott scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings pitching two strikeouts and securing the victory for the Magicians.
Caroline Ackerman played a great game at third base, making two key catches on fifth inning fly-balls.
The Magicians are back in action Tuesday night, as they face off against the Ipswich Orange Tigers at Bialek Park in Ipswich. Their next home game is against the Lynnfield Blue on Wednesday at Marblehead High School.
