U12 Magicians Stay Undefeated

The U12 Marblehead Magicians softball team kept their winning streak alive, with a 10-8 victory over the Reading Riptide at Joshua Eaton School in Reading on Monday. The girls improved their record to 4-0 with the win in a game that ended in the fourth inning due to darkness.

The Marblehead girls took control of the game immediately, scoring six runs in the top half of the first inning.

Alexa Brown had a great game at the plate, hitting a two-RBI single in the first and a long double in the third, which scored another run for the Magicians.

Also making contributions on offense were Alana Goodman, Taylor Bouchard, Sydney Ciulla, Alexa Shapiro and Sarah Cuffe.

Cuffe pitched all four innings for the local team, in what Coach George Shapiro called "a very strong outing."

Alyssa Nye made a great play in shallow right-center field for the game's last out. She charged the ball and made a solid throw to Olivia Hazlett at first base to secure the win for Marblehead.

The U12 Magicians are in action again on Tuesday, when they face-off against the Lynn Wyoma Wildcats at Veterans Middle School. Also playing at the middle school Tuesday night are the U12 Marblehead Mariners, who take their 3-2 record up against the Gloucester Nor'easters. Both games start at 6:15 p.m.
