Schools Collaborate on Identity Project

Seventh and eighth graders from Cohen Hillel Academy in Marblehead and Salem Academy Charter School in Salem will share their collaborative project on masks at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem on May 26 at 4:30 p.m. Guided by teacher Karen Madorsky, Facing History and Ourselves, and the educational staff at Peabody Essex Museum, the students have engaged in a historical, cultural, and personal exploration of masks which encouraged them to consider their own multiple identities.

At the opening event, the students will display individual masks they created and assembled into a unified display and share an exhibition catalog that highlights their work. The event is free and open to the public.
