Vehicle Vandalism, B&Es and Suspicious Water Meter Readers

Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Monday, Jan. 5

At 8:05 a.m., Essex Regional reported they had received a call stating someone was pulling down wires.

At 9:05 a.m., a caller reported a motor vehicle breaking and entering occurred overnight. Investigation revealed the situation appeared to be weather related.

At 2:43 p.m., a caller stated two men were walking up and down the street taking water meter readings. The water department confirmed it was their employees.

At 2:47 p.m., a woman reported that the emblem on her car had been “smashed” overnight. She also stated that it appeared the neighbor’s sunroof had been smashed. She did not want to speak with an officer.

At 5:07 p.m., motor vehicle breaking and entering was reported. The caller said the incident occurred overnight and a bag with a walled inside was taken.

At 9:58 p.m., callers reported that it appeared someone had been in their house while they were out. The back door was open, as was the back gate, and the computer was on in the basement.

Tuesday, Jan. 6

At 5:30 a.m., a man reported his car had been keyed overnight.
