Rusty and other purebred dogs are available for adoption at Northeast Animal Shelter.
Rusty is a four-year-old purebred Boston Terrier looking for a new home.
A former stud dog used for breeding purposes, he managed to find himself in a shelter in Georgia before he was rescued and brought to .
“He probably has some personality…He probably has some manners in the house," said Development Director Laurie McCannon.

McCannon said it’s not unusual to find purebred dogs at shelters.
Rusty’s case “goes to show you that people can get purebred dogs from animal shelters,” McCannon said. “We don’t often see baby puppies that are eight weeks old that are purebreds, but we do get plenty of teenage to adult purebred dogs.”

If people are looking for a specific breed at the shelter, it might take some time, but they can “easily get one here eventually,” McCannon explained.
