What's Open, Closed on Martin Luther King Day in Marblehead

MARBLEHEAD, MA - Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. State and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, while retail stores and most other businesses will be open.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Monday, Jan. 18:

• City offices: Closed
• Schools: Closed
• Libraries: Closed
• Banks: Closed
• Post offices: Closed
• Retail stores: Open
• Grocery stores: Open
• Liquor stores: Open
• Mall: Open

Trash Schedule:

Monday trash and recycling will be collected on Tuesday, January 19th
Tuesday trash and recycling will be collected on Wednesday, January 20th.
Wednesday trash and recycling will be collected on Thursday, January 21st.
Thursday trash and recycling will be collected on Friday, January 22nd.
Friday trash & recycling will be collected Saturday, January 23nd.

The Transfer Station will be closed on Monday, January 18th.

• The Lowell Line will operate a regular weekday schedule.
