Woman Hears Someone Calling for Help After Boater Falls into Harbor
Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Wednesday, May 20
At 8:12 a.m., a student had a seizure in a middle school classroom. The student was transported to the hospital.
At 8:41 a.m., police authorized a vehicle tow after the RMV system showed it to be unregistered. The owner, however, was able to show the officer debits from her bank account showing that her insurance had been regularly paid. The officer determined that there seemed to be a glitch in the RMV system. The log notes a short time later that the vehicle was actively registered.

At 11:07 a.m., a resident reported taxes had been filed using her Social Security Number.
At 3 p.m., a caller reported that she spotted individuals smoking a bong in a pickup truck.

At 9:29 p.m., a woman reported that she thought she heard someone calling “intermittently from across the harbor.” She couldn’t determine the exact location. Fire and EMS responded as someone was rowing the individual who had been calling for help to shore. The log notes that a person was rowing his skiff out to his boat and fell in when attempting to board his boat. The second individual rowed out to get the first person and the skiff was floating somewhere in the harbor.
Thursday, May 21
At 1:21 a.m., vandalism to a motor vehicle was reported by a neighbor. The neighbor said the vehicle appeared to have been vandalized or broken into. A responding officer determined that a BB gun might have been used.
At 3:41 a.m., a custodian left a door to the high school open when he stepped out for a moment and two kids entered the building. The caller reported that one of the kids “appeared to be under the influence of something.” The custodian stayed with the individuals until police arrived and contacted their respective parents.
