Youth Lead Service at St. Stephen Lutheran Church

Seventeen young people at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Marlborough, age 6 and up, led the worship service during Youth Sunday in May. They lit candles, read lessons, played music, ushered, led prayers, presented the offering and communion elements, and preached the sermon.
The five confirmands – Jake Allison, Caitlyn Gogan, Zachary Gogan, Abby Maston, and Robin Warner – planned the service, with guidance from Pastor Joseph Graumann. They chose hymns that ranged from the traditional to praise music, presented a sermon as a group, and wrote the day’s Prayers of Intercession.
Participants also included Alexander Bruno, Ella Gibson, Emily Haley, Steven Kaye, and Anne Schoenleber-White, readers/lectors; Ross Gibson, acolyte; Emma Keledjian, usher; Becca Schoenleber-White and Samantha Basmaji, gifts; Samantha Gogan, worship assistant; and musicians Jonathan Bruno (piano), Abby Maston (bassoon), and Sam Maston (clarinet, piano).

Pentecost Next Sunday -- Wear Red!
Confirmation for the young leaders will take place on June 9, Pentecost Sunday. The choir and handbell choir will offer special music, and many parishioners will wear the liturgical color of red, and bring red geraniums for planting outside the church.
