2 Charged After Cash Snatched From Wallet In Marlborough

When asked for money, the victim opened his wallet. A robber snatched the cash and assaulted him, police said.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A man's good-faith gesture ended in him getting robbed at a Marlborough 7-Eleven over the weekend, according to police.

Near 5 p.m. Friday, two men approached the victim at the Broad Street 7-Eleven and asked for cash. When the victim opened his wallet to see what he had, one of the men, a 35-year-old from Marlborough, reached inside and snatched about $300 in cash, according to police. The two men then ran off.

The victim chased after the robber, who responded by punching the victim in the face, police said.

However, Marlborough police were able to quickly find the two robbery suspects. The 35-year-old from Marlborough was charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery. His 41-year-old accomplice, a New Bedford resident, was arrested on an open warrant, according to police. Officers were only able to find about $32 in stolen cash.
