Accepting 2018 Scholarship Applications

As an association of business, professional and non-profit leaders, the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce promotes the commercial, industrial and economic interests of the community. Recognizing the symbiotic relationships among all segments of the community, and seeking to foster life-skill learning, the Chamber offers scholarships to area students who intend to continue their post-secondary education in business or business-related fields. While a “business focus” can be beneficial to the applicant, there are many facets considered in the decision process as many academic achievements, extracurricular activities and non-business courses of study prepare students for meaningful business careers. Thus, all students are encouraged to apply and all properly completed and submitted applications will be considered.

From the pool of applicants submitting all requested information, the scholarship recipients will be chosen on the basis of their biographical essay, achievements, scholarship and financial needs. This year, the 2018 Scholarship Award is $1,000 per recipient.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. A Biographical Essay in letter form addressed to the Scholarship Committee. Be sure to include information that you feel qualifies you as a good candidate for this scholarship and to mention any unusual personal circumstances. We are interested in your professional goals, and plans for the future, any awards you have received, extracurricular activities, community involvement, volunteering and work experience.

2. Two letters of reference, one from a school person and one from a business or community leader who can speak to your work or volunteer experiences.

3. A copy of your secondary school transcript including an activity summary whenever possible.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 30, 2018

All applications and requested documentation must be mailed to the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce office at 11 Florence St., Marlborough, MA 01752 and postmarked by the application deadline of Friday, March 30, 2018.

ABOUT THE MARLBOROUGH REGIONAL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC.

The Marlborough Regional Community Foundation, Inc. was established by the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 1998. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, it is legally empowered to collect tax-exempt contributions and disburse funds in support of non-profit activities. Officers and directors of the Foundation are drawn from the membership of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Foundation awards scholarships annually to selected students from area high schools.

ABOUT THE MARLBOROUGH REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit, private organization that provides:

• A forum and resources for business people to experience individual and collective growth
• Education through Seminars, Breakfasts and the Small Business Development Center from Clark University
• Legislative Advocacy and Economic Development that will ultimately result in cohesive regional success through the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership

The Chamber has been serving the Marlborough community since 1924 and works side by side with public officials, business people, and citizens to make the region a better place to live, work and play.
