Marlborough HS Principal To Leave After 1 Year, District Looking For Successor

His final day with the district is scheduled for June 30.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A high school in Marlborough will see a leadership change at the end of the academic year, district officials announced.

Marlborough Public Schools said Stephen Sierpina, principal of Marlborough High School, will step down from his role at the conclusion of the current school year. Sierpina informed staff and faculty on Apr. 1 of his decision to pursue a new professional opportunity closer to home.

Sierpina began serving as Marlborough High School's principal just last year, following 25 years of experience in public education, as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in urban and suburban settings.

His final day with the district is scheduled for June 30.

“We are very sorry to see him go and are grateful for the work he has done this year at MHS,” Superintendent Jason DeFalco said in a statement. “While we hate to see him leave, we wish him much success.”

During his tenure, the high school implemented a range of initiatives to enhance the student experience and strengthen support systems for faculty and staff, according to the school district.

District officials said the search for Sierpina’s successor is already underway. The principal position has been posted, and a search committee is being formed to lead what officials described as a thorough and inclusive hiring process.

The committee will focus on identifying a candidate who can support the school community and continue to uphold the district’s standards for educational excellence.

Additional updates on the search process are expected in the coming weeks.
