MARLBOROUGH, MA — Two motorcyclists were injured in a crash on Interstate 495 South in Marlborough on Sunday afternoon, according to officials.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash involving two motorcycles near mile marker 62 shortly before 4 p.m.
One rider was flown by UMass LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. A second rider was taken by Southborough Ambulance 29 to the UMass Memorial Health — University Campus emergency room, according to the Southborough Fire Department.
State Police told Patch that one motorcycle collided with a vehicle, while the second motorcycle went off the roadway into the woods.
All southbound lanes of I-495 were shut down at about 4:10 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes to allow the medical helicopter to land.
Both riders are expected to survive, State Police said. The scene was cleared by 4:45 p.m.
No additional information about the cause of the crash or the identities of those involved was immediately available.
