MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough Public Schools will have new leaders at two schools heading into the 2026-27 academic year.
Sarah Casey has been selected as the next principal of Marlborough High School beginning Jun. 1, and Tara Sobaleski has been appointed principal of Charles W. Whitcomb School beginning Jul. 1.
Casey will follow Stephen Sierpina, who was named the principal of Marlborough High for the 2025-26 school year. The district announced in April that Sierpina would step down from the role at the conclusion of the school year to pursue a new opportunity closer to home.
Casey has 15 years of experience in education and currently serves as Marlborough’s director of alternative education. In that role, she oversees alternative education programs, manages the Marlborough Evening Teams Accelerated Study/Accelerated Learning Academy budget, leads Professional Learning Communities, oversees the Restorative Center at the high school and conducts staff evaluations, according to the district.
She also previously worked as a summer credit-recovery coordinator and a student intervention lead teacher at Marlborough High School.
Casey holds a Master of Education in Organizational Management from Endicott College and an Education Specialist degree from Worcester State University. She is licensed as a principal/assistant principal for grades 5-12 and in history for grades 8-12.
Sobaleski will follow Angela House, who has been principal of Whitcomb School. House was selected in March as the district’s next assistant superintendent of teaching and learning and will assume that role Jul. 1.
Sobaleski has 15 years of experience in education and currently serves as the grade 6 assistant principal at Whitcomb School, where she provides instructional leadership and supports school operations, according to the district.
She previously worked as an educational team leader for six years, an attendance academy administrator, and a summer Title I coordinator. Sobaleski holds an Ed.S. in Special Education Administration, a Master of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Bay Path University. She is licensed as an assistant superintendent/superintendent, principal for grades 5-12 and administrator of special education.
The district said the appointments are part of its effort to recruit and retain high-quality staff focused on student success.
