Marlborough Teen Battling Cancer Receives Support From Police

Cops for Kids with Cancer provides financial help to families involved in the care of children with cancer.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A 15-year-old battling cancer received a show of support Thursday from Marlborough police and a charity that helps families of children with cancer.

Oscar, who is battling Hodgkin lymphoma, and his family received a financial assistance disbursement from Cops for Kids with Cancer during a visit with members of the Marlborough Police Department, police said. The visit was coordinated by Boston Police Detective Liam Hawkins, a board member of the charity.

Cops for Kids with Cancer provides financial help to families involved in the care of children with cancer, with each family typically receiving $5,000.

The nonprofit says it has given more than $6 million to 1,200 families with children battling cancer as of December 2025.

Marlborough police thanked Hawkins for coordinating the visit and for his work supporting children and families facing cancer.

Police also asked the community to keep Oscar and his family in their thoughts as he continues treatment.
