Marlborough Man Charged In July 4 Shots Fired Incident In Framingham

Investigators recovered an illegally possessed AK-style rifle, six large-capacity magazines, and numerous rounds of ammunition, police said.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Two men have been charged in connection with a shots-fired incident in Framingham on July 4.

Christian Cruz, 33, of Marlborough, and Juan Leiva, 19, of Worcester, are facing charges after police received reports of shots fired in the area of Beaver Park Road in Framingham. Framingham police said investigators, working with multiple other agencies, executed multiple search warrants as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators recovered an illegally possessed AK-style rifle, six large-capacity magazines, and numerous rounds of ammunition, according to police.

Cruz was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card or license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

Leiva was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

The Framingham Police Department said it "extends its appreciation to its law enforcement partners for their collaboration and assistance throughout this investigation."
