Marlborough Firefighter Retires After More Than 24 Years

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A longtime Marlborough firefighter is celebrating his retirement after more than two decades of service to the city.

Firefighter John Verock retired on July 28 after serving the Marlborough Fire Department for more than 24 years, the firefighters' union, Marlborough Firefighters Local 1714, announced on Tuesday.

Verock was among firefighters across Massachusetts honored at the Massachusetts Firefighter Service Awards. He was recognized for 25 years of career service in 2025.

Department officials congratulated Verock and wished him a happy and healthy retirement.
