Marlborough Man Accused Of Child Rape Charge Faces Federal Immigration Case

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough man accused of raping a child last year is now facing a federal immigration charge.

Alcario Lorenzo Lopez, 32, a Guatemalan national, was charged with illegally reentering the U.S. after deportation, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Monday. He remains detained following an initial appearance on Thursday in federal court in Boston.

Lopez was deported from the U.S. in 2017 and later returned without authorization, according to charging documents. Authorities have not determined when he allegedly reentered the country.

Lopez was arrested in May 2025 on a state charge of rape of a child, prosecutors said. That case remains pending.

If convicted of unlawful reentry, Lopez could face up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. He would also be subject to deportation after completing any sentence.
