MARLBOROUGH, MA — The city's firefighters responded to nearly 830 emergencies in September as the department's call volume continued to outpace last year.
The Marlborough Fire Department handled 827 emergency responses during the month, bringing its year-to-date total to 7,238, the department announced Thursday. Total responses are up 6 percent compared with the same period last year.
Medical emergencies accounted for 566 responses in September. Firefighters also responded to 124 fire-related calls, 95 public service calls, 38 hazardous condition calls and four rescues.
The September total averages nearly 28 emergency responses per day.
September's call volume was down slightly from August, when the department recorded 849 incidents, according to Patch's previous report. The department had reported 6,410 incidents through the end of August.
