MARLBOROUGH, MA — A brand-new apartment development in the city is now open.
57 Main began leasing apartments earlier this year. The development includes 92 one- and two-bedroom apartments, ground-floor commercial space, resident parking and a courtyard facing Union Common.
The project at 57 Main St. was designed to bring new housing and retail activity to downtown Marlborough.
Current rents range from $2,460 to $4,107 per month, according to the building's RentCafe listing. One-bedroom apartments start at $2,460 while two-bedroom units start at $3,249.
The building also includes an outdoor pool, fitness center, clubhouse, controlled access and in-unit laundry.
The Marlborough City Council-approved plans called for 52 one-bedroom apartments, 40 two-bedroom apartments, an 84-space resident parking garage and about 3,500 square feet of commercial space along Main Street.
The cost to build the apartment development was an estimated $50 million, according to Procopio Companies. The site was also previously home to the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, which was built around 1850.
In 2019, Marlborough City Council approved a special permit for the development. Since then, funeral services have been transferred to the Short and Rowe Funeral Home on West Main Street.
