MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough woman was one of two drivers charged with operating under the influence during separate traffic stops in Southborough on Monday.

Officers stopped Tofani's green Subaru SUV at about 2:50 a.m. near Framingham Road and Maplecrest Drive after officers saw it traveling erratically and following another vehicle closely near Boston and Framingham roads, Southborough police said.

Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol while speaking with Tofani, police said. Following field sobriety tests, a breath test registered her blood alcohol content at 0.128 percent, according to police.

Tofani was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

The earlier arrest occurred at about 2 a.m. on Turnpike Road, where police said officers saw an eastbound vehicle speeding and driving erratically.

Chinchilla showed signs of alcohol impairment and registered a blood alcohol content of 0.157 percent during a breath test, police said. Officers also reported finding several small liquor bottles and an open bottle of tequila inside the vehicle.

Chinchilla was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation and speeding.

"I want to commend the vigilant work of the officers who responded to these incidents, which removed two dangerous operators from the road," Southborough Police Chief Ryan Newell said in a statement.
