MARLBOROUGH, MA — City Councilor Robert Preciado has been nominated for statewide recognition honoring Latino community leaders.
State Sen. Jamie Eldridge nominated Preciado for a 2026 Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus Award, part of the caucus's annual Latino Excellence Awards event, according to an announcement Tuesday from Eldridge's office.
Preciado, a first-generation Mexican American, has advocated for Marlborough's immigrant families, increased funding for public schools, affordable housing and small businesses.
Before joining the City Council, Preciado helped establish Marlborough Makers, an art collective celebrating local talent. He also co-founded One Marlborough, an organization that promotes diversity and inclusion. His work has focused on accessibility in local government, representation and sustainability, according to Eldridge's office.
"Robert's advocacy that focuses on uplifting community voices and increasing representation in the MetroWest region is inspiring," Eldridge said. "Councilor Preciado is an exemplary leader who creates direct, daily impact in his community."
Preciado said receiving the recognition was a "tremendous privilege and honor," particularly during difficult times for the Latino community.
"Reach out to your neighbors, create meaningful connections and practice acts of resilience," Preciado said. "We all deserve to live with dignity and pride."
The Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus hosts the Latino Excellence Awards to recognize community leaders from across the state for their advocacy, public service and local accomplishments.
