ASTM Certified Guardian Angel Window Guards Provide "Fire Fighter Friendly" Fall Prevention

Patented Child Safety Device Prevents Tragic Window Falls
MARLBOROUGH, Mass – A national news report from The Associated Press today states that more than 5,000 U.S. children and teens are injured each year in falls from windows, and not just in urban high-rises. New research suggests many fall from first- and second-story windows.
The news comes as Guardian Angel Window Guards announces its patented window guard products meet the ASTM specification which establishes the installation, safety, performance, and labeling requirements for devices intended to address the risk of injury and death associated with accidental falls from windows by children five years old and younger.

The ASTM certification applies to window fall prevention devices that are to be used on any window, including those that are designated for emergency escape (egress) and rescue (ingress).

Child-proofing the home most often involves baby gates at stairwells, locking cabinets, and covering electrical outlets. However, securing windows to prevent falls is chronically overlooked. Window screens are not enough. Children will only be protected by installing ASTM-certified window guards designed to be removed quickly in case of fire or emergency.
Guardian Angel Window Guards are designed with less than 4 inches of space between bars to prevent small children from crawling through. End posts attach to window frames with screws so the guard is installed securely. Release buttons are secure from curious little fingers but allow for quick removal by adults in case of emergency. The patented design enables fire fighters to easily remove the guard from the outside in the event of fire.
Constructed of durable steel that can withstand the weight of a child, Guardian Angel Window Guards are easily installed with a screwdriver or drill and feature sliding bars which fit windows of various widths and heights. Multiple guards can be stacked or installed next to each other to cover extra wide or extra high openings. The guards are available in a sleek glossy white finish that does not interfere with décor.
