Spend a night traveling back to the 1930s with Cole Porter’s classic Broadway tunes of Anything Goes. Westborough Players Club is celebrating 74 seasons of community theatre and the 150thproduction since their start. The show, directed by John Leslie, opens Friday April 1 at 8 p.m. at theGibbons Middle School auditorium.
“This is like the good old fashion Broadway show, they’ll be humming and singing along,” said co-producer Jackie Hughes.
The musical takes place aboard an ocean liner with funny plotlines and classic songs such asAnything Goes and It’s De-Lovely. The ocean liner is traveling from New York to London carrying a love struck stowaway trying to win the heart of a girl (Hope Harcourt) traveling aboard with her fiancé (Lord Evelyn Oakleigh). Cruise ship entertainer Reno Sweeny and other zany characters pitch in to help the stowaway in this tale of romantic complications.

The community theatre group ensures that this will be a family affair. Cast members range from age 14 all the way up to Players Club veteran Charlie Flood who is 82 years old.
The cast also enlists a number of family duos, including a mom-daughter, brother-sister, mom-son, husband-wife and - to round it out - a father-son combination. If town talent is not enough, the production promises an amazing set consisting of a giant ship along with beautiful eye catching costumes.
