BBB Urges Community To Be On Lookout For DACA Scams

Better Business Bureau is concerned about fraudsters taking advantage of confusion over the latest news on DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). While BBB cannot provide legal advice on any matters, we urge consumers to avoid potential DACA and other immigration scams by pro-actively seeking competent legal assistance rather than responding to unsolicited appeals.

“BBB recognizes from long experience that whenever a new government program is introduced, or when there are changes to an existing program, there is some confusion about what exactly is happening,” says Paula Fleming, spokesperson for the local BBB. “Scammers take advantage of that confusion in order to defraud consumers.”

Although it is too soon for BBB to have specific data on DACA fraud, BBB urges anyone who experiences it – whether or not they lose money – to report it to BBB Scam Tracker.
