Figure Skaters are invited to try out for one of the nation’s first Synchro9
teams that hopes to compete in the 2028 Winter Youth Olympics
WHAT: Masters Academy International (MAI), Massachusetts’ first boarding and day school built specifically for elite student‑athletes, will host Synchro9 team tryouts on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at NorthStar Ice Sports.
MAI, opening this September, is among the first academic institutions in the world to offer Synchro9, the International Skating Union’s groundbreaking new discipline featuring nine‑skater teams instead of the traditional 16. It is designed for fast and high-impact performances that will feature a rebooted judging system that is clear and ensures greater transparency and audience understanding. MAI is positioning itself at the forefront of this Olympic pathway. The school will field a competitive Synchro9 team beginning this year, with athletes training in MAI’s world‑class academic and athletic environment.
Masters Academy International is inviting interested athletes with strong
skating skills and work ethic to register for the tryouts. Competitive
experience in singles, pairs, and/or team skating is preferred. All skaters
are welcome, being a student at MAI is not required.
